USA Racquetball

Greetings

Greetings South Carolina Racquetball Players!

If you weren’t able to make State Singles this past weekend, we had a great time.  Hopefully your schedule will allow you to join us next year.

I want to thank Russ Bruns and Donald Grunstra for planning of State Singles at the College of Charleston. Big thanks to Karen, Kathleen, and Mindy for keeping all of us straight. I also want to thank Freddie and his staff at College of Charleston, they were a big help too.  I know the state tournaments take a great deal of time and effort.  2011 State Singles ran very smoothly and was fun.  Everyone seemed very pleased after everything was done.  All I heard was positive things about the whole weekend.

Special thanks to Russ Bruns as the President, Jamey Lands as the Vice President and Brenda Kyzer that stepped up later as Vice President, and Vince Shirk as Secretary of the South Carolina Racquetball Players Association.  They all did a great job this past year.  I know these jobs are time consuming and all volunteer work.  I would also like to say thanks Bob Jones.  He was on the board the past two years and he did an awesome job.  Thanks again for all your help.  Hope to see you back on the courts soon!!!

The general membership relected the following: Joann Groover, Trey Jones, Karen Prine, Brenda Kyzer.  Returning for another tour of duty is myself.  Board members who were not up for reelection are: Kathleen Cartland, Angel Miranda, Todd Ferber, Brandon Qualls, and Vince Shirk.  The Board of Directors voted for officers and those positions were filled by:

President – Shawn Dodd
Vice President – Karen Prine
Secretary – Vince Shirk
Treasurer – Brenda Kyzer

I think we have a fantastic board of directors and look forward to their energetic and innovative ideas.  But I also welcome thoughts and ideas from the general membership. It’s going to be a great year for racquetball in South Carolina!

Thanks ,

Shawn Dodd

National Rule Changes for 2011 Racquetball Season

After noting that some forty-one percent of the general membership voted in favor of Option 3, a majority of the USAR’s Board of Directors agreed that a doubles team should be allowed to have either partner serve first each time the team comes “in” to serve and that an “out’ should be assessed to the team if a partner who has lost the serve attempts to serve again during that inning.
